The carding machine in action.
Gather 'round children and you will learn more than you thought.
Where was I? I can't remember what this stuff was. Oh dear.
Something besides wool, we learned about spinning many different bast fibers from flax to silk to cotton on the seed. g

These are the three ply kates that match the minispinneers. So pretty.

Where did everyone go?
I think this was flax or nettle.
My personal favorite: paper sewing patterns cut into strips. I like how the black print decorates the spun paper "yarn."

On the way to Taylored Fibers I couldn't pass up this shot. Why is one cow facing the opposite way?

The fleece is picked and separated and sent into the big box (or little room) behind the machine. Very quiet.
Beautiful fleece all picked and fluffy. This is not the same one as in the previous shots.
Now starting the carder which is going to make roving of this fluffy wool. It was a beautiful fleece, fine wool, going to be used to make "dryer balls" which is a "value-added" product I suppose.
The carder is actually quite quiet while it is operating. We could talk and watch at the same time.
You can see the carded wool that has become roving winding onto the spool. Very nice.
